Yujet Surfer is the Jetski-Surfboard mashup we didn’t know we needed – Robb Report

Why choose between jet skiing and surfing? This is the idea behind a new must-have aquatic toy: the Yujet Surfer.

The next time you’re docked in a marina, keep an eye out for this motorized mashup. The Surfer, who aptly resembles a bloated surfboard, mixes the best of both water sports, with one crucial bonus. Its inventor guarantees that anyone can master it immediately. “When people charter a yacht for a week, we want them to be happy on the first day, not the last day, when they finally figure it out,” said inventor Jeremy Schneiderman. Robb Report. “At any age, you can have a good time on it in 10 minutes. “

The secret, he explains, lies in the size of the carbon fiber panel itself: 92 inches long and 26 and a half inches wide. When prototyping the YuJet, the team tested shorter versions that were more aggressive and able to roll faster, but they proved more difficult to grasp for the first time. This is not the case with the final product. “You can stand on it even without it propelling you forward – that’s the key,” he continues, “Last week we had one in Hawaii, and it was nimble enough to ride. big waves, like a regular surfboard, but it’s also stable enough for my nine year old to ride it without any help.

Schneiderman actually compares the experience of using his jet-powered electric surfboard to a mix of three different sports. “You can lean left and right as it weaves its way through the water, like a skateboarder, and it has the pickup of a jetski – it’s really fast – and the balancing is similar to a wakeboard. , but much easier, “he continues. The top speed is an impressive 24 mph, and it can run on its rechargeable, waterproof lithium battery for up to 40 minutes. As YuJet expands its line of motorized water toys, this battery will be crucial; Schneiderman hopes to deploy future products where the battery can easily be swapped in and out of different shells. YuJet’s modular design means it’s easy to take apart in the event of an engine malfunction, for example, and only that part needs to be returned for service.

The inventor is discreet about the details and launch dates of these new water toys, but is set to launch a custom configurator this summer on the company’s website. This will allow buyers to choose different colors or even submit their own designs for custom packaging; it will charge an additional $ 500 to $ 1,000 for custom boards. Although the current design, he promises, is already getting enough attention. “We’re in South Florida, and one of my favorite things to do is get to the sandbanks, where the boats are anchored, and you turn your heads left and right,” Schneiderman says, “ It is a beautiful seal of approval. “

The Yujet Surfer starts at $ 9,999, and you can order yours at yujetusa.com.
