Swansboro Kayak Scavenger Hunt July 15th
A Swansboro-based company invites paddlers to participate in a new way to experience Carolina’s photogenic coastal waterways.
Swansboro Paddle Boarding and Kayaking is hosting its first epic kayak scavenger hunt on Thursday, July 15 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Participants will receive a list of items to locate, photograph, and text to a provided mobile number.
“We thought it would be a good way to get people out of the house, especially with the kids,” said owner Marc Howell. Howell likes to organize photos of his clients’ adventures on the river, and most outdoor enthusiasts like to share their experiences on social media.
There is something serene about listening to the water splashing down the side of a kayak while watching the clouds pass overhead. Paddling around the coves offers plenty of opportunities to watch birds leap into the marsh and discover natural treasures hidden among the beaches and oyster beds.
“I never thought I was going to see the ocean until I was in the military,” said Andrew Jennings, 21, a serviceman from the landlocked state of Wyoming.
Jennings is now stationed at Camp Lejeune with his friends AJ Brambila and Charles Sheaves. The three said they enjoy the proximity to water activities and fishing in the area.
Those who wish to explore this slice of paradise with the scavenger hunt will depart from Swansboro Paddle Boarding and Kayaking at 108 W. Corbett Ave. Entrants with the most comprehensive list of finds and the best photos will win a shop prize. For more information on the event, call 910-389-1471 or email [email protected]
