The Northern Hemisphere Edition of Steering the Course, World Sailing’s global women’s sailing festival, will start today [Friday 21 May] to Sunday May 30.

Countries, classes and sailing clubs around the world will be holding special events over the next 10 days, aimed at introducing more women and girls to sailing and providing information on the different avenues available in the sport.

Antigua, Barbados, Croatia, Denmark, Great Britain, Hungary, Hong Kong, Iceland, Japan, Malta, Slovakia and the United States are among the member national authorities that have actively planned and promoted various activities.

From dinghies to keelboats and windsurfing to kitesurfing, all disciplines are welcome to be part of the festival.

Several online events are also planned, to ensure that as many people as possible can get involved and participate virtually in the festival.

A EUROSAF & World Sailing Inspiring Women panel will be held on BlueJeans on May 26 – please contact to find out more and to register.

The World Sailing Trust is hosting a diversity and inclusion panel discussion on May 27, which will be broadcast live on World Sailing YouTube Channel.

And a special Steering the Course eSailing event on Virtual Regatta Inshore will also take place during the festival.

From May 24 until May 30, players will take part in Formula 18, with boats bearing the Steering the Course branding as they race around a virtual racetrack in Copenhagen.

The number one ranked eSailor in this challenge will qualify for the 2021 Electronic Sailing World Championship PlayOffs – and if that player is not a woman, then the number one ranked woman will qualify as well.
