Santa Barbara man dies after kitesurfing incident near Leadbetter Beach
Brown Santa Barbara resident Adam Brown, 61, died shortly after suffering a medical incident while kitesurfing near Leadbetter Beach on Thursday, April 7. able to flag down the Condor Express, a whale-watching boat, and bring Brown aboard. Others aboard the express performed CPR and contacted Santa Barbara Harbor Patrol as they brought Brown ashore.
Brown was taken to Cottage Hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later. It is unclear what caused the initial emergency that knocked Brown unconscious in the water. There will be a paddle outing in his honor on April 24 at 1 p.m.
