Paul English: How I built this with Guy Raz: NPR
Paul English is a lifelong founder. Since high school he has started 3 philanthropies and 8 businesses ranging from e-commerce and games to GetHuman, a site that helps users access human customer support.
Probably his best-known company is KAYAK, a travel website that started in 2004 on two gin-tonics with co-founder Steve Hafner. Using a simple interface, KAYAK specializes in search; and it made partners into potential rivals like Orbitz and Expedia by charging them fees for sending users to their sites.
Eventually, KAYAK became one of the most searched “K” words on Google, and in 2012 it was sold to Priceline for $ 1.8 billion. A few years later, Paul started another business, Lola.com, and says he plans to start many more.
