Osakis’ first season ends against seeded Thief River Falls in tournament opener 8A
The Osakis boys’ tennis team (2-12) wrapped up their first season since the early 1990s when they faced seeded Thief River Falls in the Section 8A tournament opener on May 24. .
The state-ranked Prowlers were too many as they finished the Silverstreaks season in a 6-1 final. Osakis’ only victory came from Isaac Maddock in the No. 1 singles where the sophomore defeated Camden Broadwell 3-6, 6-1, 10-7. Logan Grove and Jacob Uhl also pushed Isaiah Villarreal and Rhett Janish to the first double before falling 7-5, 6-1.
âAll of our guys competed really well in their first section tournament,â said Osakis coach Ryan Maddock. âWe were definitely underdogs. I thought our whole team had really made good improvements as tennis players this year.
The Silverstreaks hope to capitalize on this next spring.
âWe are very happy to launch the program and hope to see an increase in the number of participants in the future,â said coach Maddock. âOur two seniors Logan Grove and Jacob Uhl will be truly missed. They are great people and they will do great things in the future. We are very happy that they took the time to help us set up this program. They will be missed. “
