MAPLETON, Minn. (KEYC) – The new $63.3 million Maple River Schools campus is rolling out and is expected to be fully completed this fall.

“Wherever you go, it’s going to be a different show,” said Maple River Grade 7 student Reagan Reuter.

“It’s good to have a new one because all the other places have new schools and new buildings,” said Marlee Forestal-Bartell, a Grade 7 student from Maple River.

The state-of-the-art facility gives students a better understanding of success.

“I don’t even think the kids will understand the opportunities they will have in a new facility,” said Maple River Schools Superintendent Dan Anderson.

The two-story 200,000 square foot building will be equipped with a school wing featuring agricultural and career science classrooms, playgrounds for outdoor learning programs among many other assets.

Grade 7 student Marlee Forestal-Bartell, who is a tri-sport athlete, is very excited about the new gymnasiums.

“I’m especially excited about gyms because the bigger the gyms, the more sports there are.”

For Reagan Reuter, this would be the new auditorium, something Maple River never had before.

“It will be a bigger space and then for the band there will be better sound.”

The construction project has been underway since 2021. Next month, Kraus-Anderson is installing bathroom fixtures, epoxy flooring in the locker rooms as well as floors in the office and placing sand in the tennis court area .

“Some areas are getting pretty full and done. It’s sort of, we started in the south and we’re working north,” Anderson explained.

Seeing their new school built piece by piece increases the excitement in the district.

“You know, spring has started to appear and it’s getting closer. You can feel the excitement building among the children and among the staff. Everyone is very excited about being moved,” Anderson said.
