Moms and Money: Lake Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Temperatures are finally warming up in the Ozarks. With local kids on summer vacation, parents can look for a way to cool off.
âIf you’d like to come and rent a kayak or canoe, we have them available right now,â said Jennifer Perkins, Lake Springfield Park and Boathouse coordinator.
Sitting on the south side of Springfield, Lake Springfield Park and Boathouse offers a variety of activities for the whole family. Before embarking on any boating activity, safety is the number one priority.
âAll of our boats must, of course, have everyone inside wearing their life jackets for safety and we have staff who will be at the boat launch to help people get on their boat. boat and to be located, âsaid Perkins.
Once on the water there is plenty of scenery to take in as you paddle around the lake.
âWe have a wonderful population of different types of wild birds,â said Perkins.
Lake Springfield offers parents the opportunity to get their children comfortable around the water by providing activities they can do together.
âIntroducing your kids to water from a young age is so important because they are so enthusiastic and can really overcome that fear,â Perkins said.
It is a place where children can have sea legs under them.
â³ I love it every time it’s the first time the kiddo has been on the water or maybe he’s 14 years old and it’s the first time he’s ordered his first kayak on his own and ‘he’s so excited to go out and explore and love to see that,’ said Perkins.
It is ten dollars an hour for solo kayaks and paddleboards and twelve dollars an hour for kayaks and tandem canoes. Click on here to book a canoe, kayak or paddle board or learn more about other activities at Lake Springfield Park and Boathouse.
