Man kayaking through flooded Salcombe

A man was pictured kayaking on Fore Street amid surreal scenes in Salcombe this morning.
Torrential rains have triggered flash floods and power cuts in South Devon amid thunderstorm warnings for the entire county.
Salcombe is an area of the county that has been hit hard by flooding, affecting many businesses.

A video posted to Twitter by policewoman Emma Buley showed the scene in Salcombe, with flash floods engulfing the city center.

The police officer said: “The flash floods in Salcombe this morning affected dozens of businesses. Be careful driving if you get caught in the rain today.”
According to a BBC South West travel update, the town was impassable around 10 a.m.
However, a resident of the town told Devon Live that the water has now been drained and cars can pass through the town.
