Kenai River takes 2-0 lead over Janesville in best of five NAHL Local playoffs
The Janesville Jets dug a big hole on Saturday night.
River scored two power-play goals and got a solid effort into the net from Luke Pavicich en route to a 5-1 victory over the Jets at the Janesville Ice Arena in a NAHL best-of-five playoff series. The Brown Bears won 6-4 Friday night.
The visiting Brown Bears took the first two games of the series to open a 2-0 lead and move on to a win after knocking out the postseason Midwest Jets champion.
Kenai River led 2-1 after one period and pushed the lead to 4-1 after two periods.
Nick Lever scored Janesville’s lone power-play goal to reduce the lead to 2-1 at 1:47 p.m. of the first period.
Pavicich was brilliant in goal, stopping 44 of 45 shots he faced.
Game 3 of the series is Friday in Blaine, Minnesota.
