Gold Coast to get an endless surf park
The club at Parkwood Village, Gold Coast, Queensland, is considering adding an Endless Surf wave pool to its growing sports and entertainment center.
Parkwood serves the local resident community of over 500,000 residents with a mix of sports and family activities ranging from dining to golf and trampoline. As a hub for top-level sport, it is also the training center for the Gold Coast Titans NRL team.
Parkwood plans to add a $ 200 million mixed-use development providing the community with expanded hospitality, medical and business services, a new 200-bed hotel and residential apartments.
At the center of the development will be an Endless Surf Pool, a centerpiece, providing fun, exercise, and stunning views for the community.
Luke Altschwager, Managing Director and Founder of Parkwood, says Australians love surfing and this technology that creates custom repeatable waves will revolutionize the sport.
“I want to make sure Parkwood becomes the heart of the sport here on the Gold Coast. Not only is a world-class surf pool a perfect fit for our active community, it anchors a whole new level of economic investment in the region.
Endless Surf is made by Canadian water entertainment supplier WhiteWater.
“Endless Surf represents the most advanced surfing technology today, offering an authentic vibe in an attractive and welcoming setting, while providing great flexible waves for all types of surfers – that’s why we chose Endless Surf” , he said. “Plus, it’s a family business with a business-like approach to ours, driven by a goal of delivering the best life-enhancing experiences.”
Parkwood expects the project to be completed in 2023.
