YPSILANTI – The past week has been good for the Eastern Michigan men’s basketball team.

The Eagles have worked hard and been rewarded by adding four players to their roster for the 2022-23 season, including three former Mr. Basketball finalists.

EMU started the week with the signing of Cleveland native Jalin Billingsley on Tuesday. Billingsley was transferred from Georgetown after his first season.

Billingsley was an Ohio Mr. Basketball finalist his senior year at Lutheran East. The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 2.1 points and 1.8 rebounds in 30 games at Georgetown.

On Wednesday, EMU added Cass Tech’s Tyson Acuff, a Detroit native and former Mr. Basketball finalist, who transferred from Duquesne after two seasons.

The 6-foot-4 guard started 16 games last season and averaged 5.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and shot 39% from the 3-point line.

Detroit native Orlando Lovejoy signed with the Eagles on Thursday and former River Rouge star Legend Geeter joined the program on Friday.

Lovejoy was a four-time captain at Romulus Summit Academy where he averaged 27 points, eight rebounds and seven assists as a senior. He also played for 1 on 1 Prep Academy in North Carolina last year.

Geeter returned to his home country after a freshman year at Providence where he saw no game action.

The 6-foot-8 forward played for River Rouge during his prep career and averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks per game as a senior and was named a Mr. Basketball.
