Christopher Reeve 69th birthday: Here’s what Superman’s kids do
Google pays tribute to late actor Christopher Reeve with a doodle on September 25. If the actor had lived, the date would have marked his 69th birthday. Reeve died on October 10, 2004, at the age of 52, after an ulcer infection caused him to be given an antibiotic, which resulted in fatal cardiac arrest. Notably, this arrest came after Reeve attended his son Will’s hockey game. On Superman’s birthday, here’s a look at where his kids are now and what they’re doing.
Unlike some celebrity kids, not all of Reeve’s kids – William, Matthew, and Alexandra – chose to follow in their father’s footsteps and enter Hollywood. Nonetheless, they have always made a name for themselves and have appeared in the news frequently over the years. In April 2020, Will was caught pantless on “Good Morning America,” which quickly went viral. His siblings do not seem to have been involved in such blunders, but have become famous for other things.

If you’re wondering about Reeve’s wife, she died of lung cancer in 2006. Dana Reeve was only 44 years old and did not smoke. Nonetheless, the family managed to overcome the tragedy and honor their parents thanks to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, among others. Here’s everything we know about William, Matthew, and Alexandra.
The youngest of the three, Matthew was born to Reeve and his second singer and actress partner Dana Morosini. He has chosen to pursue a career in the information industry and is currently a correspondent with ABC News. In fact, he was reporting on ABC when he was caught without pants. Matthew has worked with ABC since November 2018, prior to which he was ESPN and MSG Networks. Since 2013 he has also been a member of the board of directors of the family foundation.
Reeve has appeared on “Good Morning America” and “The Pulse,” and recently covered Afghan refugees at Ramstein Air Base. We do know Reeve is dating Lexi Henkel, from her Instagram profile, but it is not known if the duo are married. Beyond that, not much is known about William. Most of his social networks are filled with promotions of his work for ABC.
Alexandra Reeve Givens
Born to Reeve and his first partner, model Gae Exton, Alexandra is currently the President and CEO of the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT), a group focused on technology policy and democracy. She assumed this role in May 2020, before which she worked at Georgetown University Law Center. Alexandra has also worked with the United States Senate, Columbia Law School, and was an advisor to Senator Elizabeth Warren.
In 2008, Alexandra married Garren Givens, after the duo met at Yale. They welcomed their first child, a son named Christopher Russel Reeve Givens, in June 2015. Named “after his grandfathers on either side,” the news quickly went viral as a tribute to Christopher. Beyond her professional life, little is known about Alexandra. She appears to maintain a low-key privacy, making regular appearances during the events of the Reeve family’s founding.
The eldest of the three, Matthew was born to Exton and Reeve and decided to pursue his parents with a career in Hollywood. Director, screenwriter and screenwriter Matthew is best known for producing “Christopher Reeve: Hope in Motion” and “Christopher Reeve: Choosing Hope”. He also directed and produced “Over The Water”, a documentary on world kitesurfing champion Aaron Hadlow.
For the past seven years he has worked as a freelance screenwriter, as well as a member of the board of directors of the Reeve Foundation. Unlike his siblings, Matthew maintains a very low profile, so what he does isn’t exactly clear. IMDb credited Matthew as a writer on ‘Agent Hamilton’ in 2020, his first credited role since the 2016 short film ‘Ladies Who Lunch’. Beyond that, he has been credited on several short films and documentaries, as well as the 1997 MTV Europe Music Awards.
