Adventure Sports recalls Ceramic Pulleys for Cabrinha Switchblade and Drifter Kite Due to Injury Hazard (Recall Alert)
Ceramic pulley for Switchblade and Drifter kites
The ceramic pulleys used in the recalled Switchblade and Drifter kiteboarding kites may cause the bridle line connection to break, reducing the steering and control performance of the kite, resulting in loss of control of the kite. kite, posing a risk of injury.

This recall involves two (2) white ceramic pulleys, with Cabrinha branding on each pulley, on Cabrinha® Switchblade and Drifter kiteboarding kites bearing model number 02 and serial numbers beginning with l one of the following: 61NI, 61NJ, 61NK, 61NL, 62NA, 62NB, 62NC, C11G, C11H, C11K. The model and serial numbers can be found on the outer box containing the kites, on the kite hangtags, and on the trailing edge of the kite label. The kites packaging has no green dot on the hangtag and outer shipping box. The booster includes two white ring ceramic parts/guides (two per kite).
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Switchblade and Drifter sail kites and contact the place of purchase, an authorized retailer or Adventure Sports for a free replacement kit with kite installation instructions. . Consumers will receive a replacement kit to complete the repair, or may request assistance from the seller to replace the pulley. The company is contacting all known purchasers directly regarding the recall.
The company received 30 reports that the ceramic pulley was fraying the bridle line. No injuries were reported.

Kitesurf shops including Kiteboarding Saint Petersburg and Best Pro Kiteboarding in Florida, Adventure Sports USA and online at https://www.cabrinha.com and other websites from October 2021 to April 2022 for approximately $15 ( individual pulley), plus bridle line at $11. The kites with the ceramic pulleys sold for between $1,250 and $2,000.
