67-year-old music fan falls as he crowd-surfs and meets Brandon Flowers
A fan of rock band The Killers, 67, had just spent a lovely afternoon crowd surfing at a concert – you know, the way we do – when he was let go by the crowd and may have been injured.
But the old man picked himself up and ended up meeting one of his musical heroes.
At the Killers’ recent concert in Manchester on Saturday June 11, the older spectator, who we later learned was called Billy, was overwhelmed by the crowd when fans let him down, dropping Billy to the ground.
But the Killers frontman interrupted the show to check on Billy, asking, ‘Who’s dropping a guy? Who dropped him? Is he okay? His head is bleeding a little, let’s take care of him.
The show’s cameras turned to Billy to make sure he was okay. See below for images taken by fans from the event.
Flowers actually came down from the stage to meet Billy and talk to the elderly fan. Then Flowers came back on the mic and joked, “I said, ‘Billy, what are you doing? And you know what he said? He said, “I’m having fun.”
All’s well that ends well and now Billy, 67, has a great story (and 15 minutes of fame) to tell.
Concert goer Lawrie Bacon captured the events and shared them on Twitter, writing on the social media platform afterwards, “Billy the crowd surfer at The Killers tonight in Manchester”
Twitter user Diane Noakes also seized the moment, writing on the social media platform: “Billy don’t be a hero! Billy stole the show at @The killers tonight. Crowd surfing ahead of the crowd. They let him go. @BFlowers24 stopped the show to rescue him and give him first aid. Billy is 67 years old. Live your best life! #Bowl#Killers#Flowers“
And an Instagram account dedicated to Flowers also shared the news, writing: “Billy, 67, went crowd surfing and got dumped by someone in the crowd. “I was having fun,” he said 😭.”
