2A Boys Basketball: RA Long keeps rolling with victory over Columbia River | Boys
RA Long extended his winning streak to nine games with a 70-46 blowout of the Columbia River on Friday in a 2A game of the Greater St. Helen’s League.
The loggers started with defense before their attack took hold. In the first quarter, the Jacks held the Rapids down to just six points for an early lead before opening the floodgates on offense with a 28-point exit in the second quarter to climb 41-26 at halftime.
The Jacks couldn’t duplicate their second quarter result, but they didn’t have to. They remained strong on defense and still managed to beat the Rapids in the third and fourth quarters for the win.
The Lumberjacks played most of the game without their big centerpiece in 6-foot-7 Aaron Ofstun, who only played a quarterback due to a hip injury he sustained against Woodland. In his absence, Wayne Keegan stepped in to fill the role and scored 15 points for the Jacks.
Cameron Holden led the way with 20 points for RAL, who had five double-digit goalscorers. Jamond Harris and Cavin Holden each added 10 points, and Ofstun also scored 10 in his shift.
RA Long (9-1) is looking to extend his double-digit winning streak by facing Hockinson at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Brush Prairie.
