2 of 3 victims of Surrey Sports Park shooting now dead, RCMP say
Police say what appears to be a targeted shooting of three men at a sports park in Surrey has now left two dead.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is urging witnesses to provide any information that may be linked to the shooting on Saturday July 30 afternoon in Softball City, South Surrey.
Police said in a statement that officers were called to the park on Saturday where they found three men with gunshot wounds.
Police say one of the men died at the scene, while two others were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where the second victim died.
Police say they believe the shooting was targeted and there is no longer a risk to the public.
Investigators are working to confirm the identity of the victims and any connection to the Lower Mainland gang conflict.
“The start of any investigation is critical as we move quickly to secure perishable and time-sensitive evidence,” said Sgt. IHIT’s Timothy Pierotti. “We urge anyone with dash cam video to secure the footage and contact us immediately.”
