Looking for a quick get-away? Only 15 miles from historic Galena, Illinois, the drive to Dubuque, Iowa is a scenic pleasure. Once in Dubuque, there is so much to see and do! The SPIRIT'S location is ideal! The SPIRIT of Dubuque is located at the end of 3rd Street in the historic Ice Harbor. The harbor is home to the Iowa Welcome Center, the Mississippi River Museum, and the Diamond Jo floating casino. Contact the Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce to receive a Dubuque Visitor's Guide. It will be a useful tool in discovering all the wonderful things to see and do in Dubuque.

COMING IN FROM THE NORTH: WISCONSIN ON HWY 151/61 SOUTH

• Approaching the city of Dubuque on Hwy 151 S, you will cross the Iowa-Wisconsin bridge over the Mississippi River.
• From that point you will travel approximately 3 miles before you have to exit.
• Take the exit that says "Downtown Civic Center/Port of Dubuque"
• Stay in the far right lane and the road will curve to the right. You will be on Locust Street.
• Travel 4 blocks, following the signs for the Ice Harbor/Port of Dubuque and take a right on 3rd Street. Follow 3 rd Street over the overpass. We are located at the end of 3rd Street. To your right there will be a red brick building, go past that. Park in the lot closest to the river. Look for the large red buoy between the red brick building and the Ice Harbor Galley Restaurant. Follow the ramp down to the the bottom. Our ticket office is located inside the blue barge.

COMING IN FROM THE SOUTH: HWY 151/61 NORTH
(Davenport, Bellevue, Cedar Rapids)

• Approaching the city of Dubuque on Hwy 151 N, take the exit " Downtown Civic Center/Locust St."
• Stay on Locust St. through a large 4 way intersection - staying in the middle lane, follow the sign for Downtown Civic Center.
• Take a right on 3rd Street and go over the overpass ( Port of Dubuque.) Turn right on Bell Street, then take an immediate left. Park in the lot closest to the river. Look for the large red buoy between the red brick building and the Ice Harbor Galley Restaurant. Follow the ramp on the right down to the bottom. Our ticket office is located inside the blue barge.

COMING IN FROM THE NORTH: HWY 3 AND 52 SOUTH

• Approaching the city of Dubuque on Hwy 3 and 52, the road will turn into Central Avenue.
• Stay on Central Ave until you reach 5th Street.
• Take a right on 5th Street and travel 2 blocks.
• Take a left on Main Street and travel 2 blocks.
• Take a left on 3rd Street and go over the overpass ( Port of Dubuque.) Turn right on Bell Street, then take an immediate left. Park in the lot closest to the river. Look for the large red buoy between the red brick building and the Ice Harbor Galley Restaurant. Follow the ramp on the right down to the bottom. Our ticket office is located inside the blue barge.

COMING IN FROM THE EAST: HWY 20 WEST FROM GALENA

• Downtown Galena to Dubuque is a 20 minute drive. Allow 45 minutes if you are at Eagle Ridge Inn or Chestnut Resort. Approaching the city of Dubuque on Hwy 20 West, you will cross the Mississippi River.
• Coming off the bridge, you will meet a large four way intersection and turn right.( Locust Street)
• Move into the middle lane and follow the sign " Downtown Civic Center" & " Iowa Welcome Center.”
• Take a right on 3rd Street and go over the overpass ( Port of Dubuque.) Turn right on Bell Street, then take an immediate left. Park in the lot closest to the river. Look for the large red buoy between the red brick building and the Ice Harbor Galley Restaurant. Follow the ramp on the right down to the bottom. Our ticket office is located inside the blue barge.

COMING IN FROM THE WEST: HWY 20 EAST FROM DYERSVILLE

• Approaching the city of Dubuque on Hwy 20, travel approximately 5 miles from the first set of lights.
• Following the " Downtown Civic Center" signs, you will approach the Mississippi River & will meet a large 4 way intersection. The cross street is Locust. Turn left & travel straight through the set of lights, stay in the center lane.
• Take a right on 3rd Street and go over the overpass ( Port of Dubuque.) Turn right on Bell Street, then take an immediate left. Park in the lot closest to the river. Look for the large red buoy between the red brick building and the Ice Harbor Galley Restaurant. Follow the ramp on the right down to the the bottom. Our ticket office is located inside the blue barge.
